The Intelligence Revolution

Apparently, according to scientists, human intelligence evolves steadily over time, from generation to generation. Really? I don’t know about you but I for one am seeing a rather rapid decline; no Flynn effect around here. I certainly can’t count on one hand the amount of conversations I’ve had in the past month that contain any small iota of intelligence. The main topics of conversation in today's society seem to be clothes, TV, and the private lives of brainless celebrities. It seems the only thing people can critically think about is Rihanna’s choice of dress to the Brit Awards.

So what are your thoughts on the EU?
Well, I dunno but we didn’t do too bad in the Eurovision Song Contest this year did we?

And I’m sick of people talking about characters in Eastenders as if they were much-loved members of their own bleeding family. I don’t particularly give a damn about Dot’s thrilling shenanigans in the launderette, and I certainly don’t shed a tear when yet another character gets tragically knocked down by a surprise oncoming car.

Don’t even get me started on kids and the 1984-esque dumbing down of the English language (Yes, your kids will soon lack the language required to construct intelligent thoughts and think for themselves). If it isn’t “chav talk is lk bttr thn nrml english, so go lrn n stff whle i go drnk sme whte litning innit” then it's “OMG WTF m8 wotz up? Ur lukin gd. Am 2 busy lolling atm tho 2 pull my hed out my ass, but IMAO clevaness is ovar8ted neway”, and rather than climbing trees and reading books they’re beating up old ladies in the street, recording it on their mobile phones and uploading it to YouTube or Facebook.
Anyway, where did I put that Daily Mail…

Damn, I wish I could think of something smart like that!
