You got me now, but you were always going to,
Laughed your way into my heart.
It took me a while but here I am;
I'm yours.
For the first time in life I'm keeping things simple,
No abstract ideas, no elaborate concepts.
Everything's changing,
And nothing more so than me.
Those mischievous eyes, that cheeky grin, those arms.
Even your childishness, and your crazy naivety,
I can do nothing but thank you for,
And laugh about.
Truth be told I owe my life to you.
I owe you this giddy beam on my face,
I owe you my regained sense of humour,
And I owe you this new sense of faith.
So here it is:
My first poem for you.
See when I think of you I find myself smiling,
Looking like a fool on the central line train.
Your happiness babe I will sure be compiling,
Your depth and opinions I'll soon ascertain.
