2am Rambling

Ok. Life. Lets start with the big stuff; we all know how much I hate small talk. First off, my all-time favorite life-topic: consciousness. Why do we have it and what bloody purpose does it serve to question things? We’d all like the answers to life’s big questions (such as the big why are we here one), but what interests me most is why we require such answers in the first place. Has the human brain grown too intelligent and accidently become aware of itself? Is it purely random? I’m pretty sure it’s not the doing of evolution, I think we pretty much cocked that one up when we outlawed survival of the fittest. So lets take mother nature. Some philosophers have said that we are nature, and that consciousness is nature becoming aware of and questioning itself. Um ok. I can just see it now: mother nature: Wow look at me: I'm extraordinary. But I’m now going to destroy myself with toxic waste and pollution by pulling myself apart and blowing things up in my never-ending quest to better understand myself. That’ll do it. And how about God? Build a, quite frankly amazing, universe and then watch it get destroyed by conscious human beings? And for what? Entertainment? Are we supposed to kill each other? Learn the answer to some enlightenment-giving question? Acquire world peace? Then what? Float up to heaven and live happily ever after for eternity with a load of angels? Doesn’t wash with me. And then there’s the big bang: there’s some far-out theories out there linking the big bang and consciousness but I think we’ll be big-banging our head against a brick wall trying to prove them. So religion or science? Does it really matter? (Haha, matter, get it?). Science will destroy the world by pulling it apart in its quest to understand it, and religion will destroy the world in its desperate attempt to gain control of its inhabitants, and to get over the fact that there’s a whole universe out there,

and we may not be the centre of it.
